Marvel 1602 is a graphic novel written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Andy Kubert. I love me some Neil Gaiman. I ate up his Sandman series, which thankfully my brother owned because I would never have discovered them on my own.
A series of 8 comic books, Marvel 1602 are the characters from the Stan Lee Marvel Universe, but retooled and placed in England and the New World in 1602.
I thought it was an interesting concept, but since I don't know all the ins and outs of the Marvel characters, I think a lot of details were lost on me. There were also so many characters to keep track of that I was quite confused at times. The story was interesting, but didn't keep me spellbound to the end. I really liked the action in the middle, but the resolution - meh.
If you're a comics fan or Neil Gaiman fan, you owe it to yourself to read this (assuming you haven't already). But if you're not one of those things already, this isn't the place to start. Wait till you're hooked, then come back to it.
