Still good.
We've started unpacking our books, so finally I can reread the Narnia series like I've been itching to do. The first question is always whether to read them in the order they were written or in the chronological order of the stories. When I was younger and read these over and over, I usually opted for the latter choice. But due to 4 children rereading the same paperback copies, the first book chronologically (The Magician's Nephew) fell apart years ago. So order they were written it is, and I just finished The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Things that struck me reading this story as an adult:
- It's so short. If I'd had the free time, I could have easily read this in an afternoon. (How on earth did they make this stretch into a 2 1/2 hour movie? That's how long it takes to read it!)
- The story is so basic and characters so barely developed.
- There are things you just wouldn't expect to read in a book written today, like the beavers having ham and fishing for trout (talking animals eating other animals feels icky), or the kings and queens hunting down all the witch's escaped army and destroying them.
- It's still a really good story.
