Virtual Book Club
beth — Tue, Jun 2 2009
Long long ago I organized a book club and friends gathered round and we actually discussed books! Well, among other things, and of course the highlight of it was really all the yummy yummy food. Then several people moved away and eventually I moved away and book club disbanded. *sniff* So sad.

Review: Love in the Time of Cholera
beth — Tue, Jul 24 2007
Normally when I read a classic, I like to take the time to examine the meaning, read articles about the hidden depths of the novel, etc. etc. Not this time. For once, I did not even finish a book in time for book club. D'oh!
Review: The Namesake

Ok, so I read this forever ago (June book club) and I barely remember it now. So this may be a short review.
Review: Moll Flanders

We had book club yesterday. I literally finished this book minutes before I had to walk out my door. Go me!
As Delia pointed out, part of the difficulty in reading the book is the lack of chapters. When there's no stop points, for some reason it gets harder to pick the book! Weird.

Continuing with the short reviews for our book club books:
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Susanna Clarke - Critics said it was an adult Harry Potter. We all agreed it took far too long to get interesting and was nowhere near as fun, interesting, or enjoyable as the HP series.

Snippet Reviews: Book Club Readings 2004
beth — Thu, Mar 22 2007
We started off book club in March 2004 and managed to fit 5 books into the year. If you can do math, you might have figured out that meeting every 6 weeks should have had us reading 6 - 7 books. Sadly, real life gets in the way and spring breaks, weddings, births, and holidays often bump us into fewer meetings. D'oh!
